Virgin has extended a special credit card offer.

Virgin credit card customers might be delighted to note that the lender has decided to extend a special offer on one of its products.

In news that may also be pertinent to anyone with a Virgin ISA, the financier has announced the zero per cent introductory period on its balance transfer credit card has been lengthened from 14 months to 16 months.

Following this timeframe, the package then reverts to a typical variable interest rate of 18.9 per cent, with subsequent balance transfers having an attached fee of 2.89 per cent.

However, in addition, the credit card offers zero per cent interest on all purchases made within three months, while all new Virgin products of this nature will also incorporate contactless technology, meaning items worth up to £15 can be bought without the need for a pin number.

Jasmine Birtles of Moneymagpie.com said recently it is important for people to openly discuss their credit card debts rather than hide away from them.

Meanwhile, The AA has added a bonus to its credit card packages.

Motorists concerned about the rising cost of fuel in the UK may wish to explore the possibility of taking out an AA credit card.

This is because the organisation - which also offers products such as car insurance - is offering a return of up to four per cent for its credit card holders in a specialist points reward scheme on purchases of petrol and diesel.

The AA's decision to introduce this offer is based largely on the fact that the fuel duty was increased by one pence by the government as of the beginning of October.

Mark Huggins, director of the company's financial services department, commented that the recent trend of rising fuel process has resulted in a two-car family paying out £23 more on petrol and diesel than 12 months ago.

An expert from Moneyfacts said recently that using a credit card wisely over the festive period might be a good way to fund Christmas.
